Fantasy Fest and Irma

September 21, 2017

Good news for all you Fantasy Fest enthusiasts and lovers of all things Key West: Even after the crazy devastation of Hurricane Irma it looks like Fantasy Fest will be coming off as scheduled this year!

I am not sure if I should blame myself or the ghosts of Hurricane Irma, but my entry for the annual poster competition seems to have gotten lost in the (e) mail. Working off the theme of "Time Travel Unravels" I created the above image as a possible poster for the contest. I figured some dinosaurs, Pilgrims, robots, and pirate damsels should do the trick.

No dice. I never heard back on a few different occasions. While the poster winner is great, and the t-shirt designs for this year's swag are really cool, it seems my entry got blown away by Irma or something.

I used the basics of my pop expression collage techniques to create a layered image here. While it isn't going to be a part of the poster signing festivities I thought I should share here. If anyone would like a high resolution version just drop me a line on my contact page and I will send it along.

In the meantime, it's time to get beautiful Key West back on track. You can shop some of my Vintage Key West designs while you start training for the Fantasy Fest party!

I'm not sure what it is, but every time I think of time travel I don't go back to the Civil War or Pyramids. I go straight to the 1980s.

Looking forward to seeing what the rest of you come up with this year. Until then, make sure to share this piece to anyone you think might enjoy.
