Reading Kenneth Noland

My copy of the exhibition catalogue from Kenneth Noland: The Nature of Color to start my reading and research on the artist. How about this:

“My choice of color… is an intuitive process. But intuition means informed experience- you use color like you use language,” a quote from the artist.

While I am a long fan, I am taken with the complexity of image in pieces like “Ice Shine,” or “Timeless Moment.” There is something at the heart of these that is similar to what I am trying to accomplish with the layered images in some of my recent work.
